Technological security does not emerge in a vacuum. It requires not only expertise and methodology, but also attitude, team spirit, and genuine curiosity. For us, culture is not a side effect but a driver – of innovation, of quality, and of our ambition to make language models truly secure.
What sets us apart? An honest mix of technical excellence, lived nerd culture, and the deep conviction that we can do better. Not faster, not louder, but more solid, transparent, and principled.
We admit it: we are nerds. And not just at work. Anyone who joins us at lunch quickly realizes conversations here rarely revolve around trivialities. Instead, we debate sci-fi classics, mathematical oddities, linguistic quirks, or why our colleague Elizabeth would make an excellent German chancellor.
This mix of depth, eccentricity, and true passion defines our team. It sometimes reminds us of the classic movie Sneakers (1992): a diverse, intelligent group with unusual skills working together on a better solution.
Creativity is a strength – though not always easy when naming a new company. Proposals ranged from brilliant to… questionable. The winning idea came from Bernhard Grün, CTO of the N4 Group:
sequire – a blend of the English security and the Latin quire (“to be able to”).
We can secure.
A bold statement, but one we fully stand behind. The addition of technology was made during the notary registration to clearly position us in the industry. Our entry into the German commercial register followed in summer 2021.
And while our appearance is professional, our DNA remains bold, pragmatic, and nerdy.
By late 2024, our nerd culture found a new highlight. Dr. Marc Okrand, inventor of the Klingon language, and our CEO Dr. Christoph Endres crossed paths multiple times – including at the annual Star Trek Christmas Lecture (German) by Prof. Dr. Hubert Zitt (German) in Zweibrücken.
“Marc, how do you say ‘We can secure’ in Klingon?”
After explaining that Klingon sentence structure differs from most Western languages, Dr. Okrand rephrased it: “Security we can!” He then searched his dictionary – Klingons rarely use the word “security” – and finally delivered the translation:

This makes sequire technology GmbH one of the few companies with an official Klingon name.
And frankly: we’re pretty proud of that.
Why It All Matters
Because we firmly believe that trust, responsibility, and precision are at the core of security. And that solid solutions don’t come from shiny surfaces, but from teams who know what matters – and choose the right path, even when it’s harder.
Whether in LLM security, testing methodology, or EU-compliant safeguards for complex systems: our culture is not decoration. It is our operating system.
If you’d like to learn more about our work, our team, or our mindset, we’d be happy to connect – whether through collaboration, exchange, or simply a nerdy chat about secure AI, testing, or science fiction.
